KaRL BaRX moves to Kopenhagen!28.07.09 We are hereby announcing that KaRL BaRX is moving its entire organization to Denmark. Yep! The lovely city of Kopenhagen will be our new hometown from January 2010. This rather radikal change in our musikal lives, as well as our daily lives, will koincide with yet another line-up change. Rainer decided to stay with his drums and his family in Trondheim. We owe Rainer great thanx, not only has he been a tremendous drummer - his teknologikal skills and his struktured way of working has been krucial for the improvements we have made the last two years. Our new drummer will be Asle Arntzen, originally from Frosta, but already living in Kopenhagen. Read more about Asle at KaRL BaRX One Song A Month 2009, where he is kontributing on the recent July addition. ![]()
"Agurk news"03.07.09 1. Tore has bought himself a new pair of glasses. Loox good now. His drama started with a hole in a steep downhill road, kontinued with a several meters long flight throught the air, then a krash landing followed, and the day ended at the hospital where he walked out with eight stiches in one elbow and two in the other. 4. Luckily, neither his head nor his new glasses were damaged. Let's all wish for a quick and smooth rekovery! The Bandage Boy:
Quiz!08.05.09 In order to determine the exakt amount of KaRL BaRX knowledge among fans and other people, we have developed the What Do You Do When KaRL BaRX? Survey. Of kourse, fans/people always need karrots to participate in a survey, so we've kalled it a 'quiz' instead of a 'survey' and we have A PRIZE: THE 3 RESPONDENTS WITH THE HIGHEST SKORE GET FREE TICKETS TO OUR GIG AT FAMILIEN/TRONDHEIM AT WEDNESDAY MAY 13th.
Magnus survives debut tour28.04.09 A short news-flash to announce that Magnus not only survived, but did very well as he entered his new position as our Telekaster Master. With as much as five gigs in three weeks, he quickly advanced from shoegazing koncentration at 3B/Trondheim April 4th...
Time Is Money video!19.03.09 Cheers, bottoms up, and here's to a long awaited Produkt Of Imagination: A video for Time Is Money (I Don't Wanna Pay). Jon Storsæter and Sigurd began to work on it in 2007, but the process was slowed down and the milestones postponed from several reasons and ill-fated cirkumstances. Long story - but maybe that's the story of our life... At different moments of the process, both Marie and now Joey left the band, so let's konsider the video as premature nostalgia, and a nice way to celebrate their respektive kontributions to the Ongoing Story of KaRL BaRX. The lengthy produktion also allowed us to inkorporate new chapters of the story: Brita ko-starred as a watch store klerk, almost before she had sung a note in the band. And later on, Sigurd made an alternative low-key version of the song, which kould now be inkluded along with the end kredits. It's appropiate to present the whole version as the One Song A Month for March.
Amish 82 Remix17.03.09 The fellow Trondheim musicians from elektro-rock akt Amish 82 has honoured us by making the first remix of any KaRL BaRX song. We are very satisifed with the result - it's as different from the original as it should be, still the song seems to feel very komfortable and natural in its new klothes. Kurrently you kan listen to the Amish 82's take on Produkts Of Imagination from their playlist at MySpace (klick link above), but you kan also download it here. PS: ...here we go again: Yet another version from those hyperaktive guys, thanx a lot!
An era is over...12.03.09 An era in the history of KaRL BaRX is over: Jo Endre says Thank you for the musik! and leaves the band. A brilliant guitar player and one of the kindest persons in mankind will no longer be among us. Well, this is no obituary, the man is not dead, on the kontrary, he's got too much of a good life to deal with. He's got a wife, two sons and a busy business at his hands, and it's a wonder he has put up with Sigurd and the bands (the Others 1996-2000, and then KB) for so long - especially when one knows that for the last 5 years he has travelled 3 hours by kar and ferry in order to get back and forth to each band rehearsal. So it's no obituary, but it's sad news. Joey leaves the band. And of kourse, it's the remaining members who are the ones to say Thank you for the musik!
...and a new has begun12.03.09 Of kourse, Joey wouldn't leave the band stuck with a lot of loose guitar ends. We have known about his decision for some time, but as it's a large hole in the BaRX ship to be fixed, he would stay with us until we had a worthy subsitute within reach. And now we have! His name is Magnus Nymoen, and he was rekommend by our kommon friend, former BaRX sound guru Håvard Sæther. We have realized that this man without doubt kan learn and perform 15-20 songs within a month, so we have thrown him to the wolves and into the Karavelle when we head for a three-day tour in Southern Norway in April.
ISFiT photos, review, rekording and video09.03.09 Our koncert at ISFiT two weeks ago was very well dokumented: Icon Music Mag both photographed and reviewed the gig. And ourselves we hired a kouple of friends to film it. We also made a decent sound rekording to go with the footage, so we have chosen to present Mute Seasons, one song from the set, as One Song A Month for February.
KaRL BaRX in China20.02.09 KaRL BaRX is featured on the kompilation Norwegian Wood Music For China vol. 10. That means that our song Time Is Money, and 17 other Norwegian songs, will kome for free with the magazine Not Only Music in 10.000 kopies. As China is konwn for exessive pirat kopying, the chances that we suddenly get loads of TONO money are slim - but the potensial for reaching 1.3 billion Chinese fans is absolutely present. The 10 kompilations (this was the last) are made by Norsk Rock Til Kina.
One Song A Month13.02.09 Welkome to 2009! This year we introduce an exciting concept:
Merry Kristmas!24.12.08 Our kontribution to Alternativ Julekalendar was released Dec 19th, listen to it here: All I Want For Kristmas (Is A Girl). The kalendar has been really excellent this year, so why not use it as your Kristmas Eve soundtrack! All songs kan be downloaded for free. KaRL BaRX hereby wishes a Merry Kristmas to all our friends, real & imaginary.
Alternativ Julekalender16.12.08 KaRL BaRX has written and rekorded a brand new Kristmas karol especially for the fabulous Alternativ Julekalender. The song will hide behind one of the nine remaining "luker", so hurry up: Klick the link and sign up for the kalendar if you haven't done so already. The musikal quality of this year's kalendar is very high, and inkludes kontributions from as different artists as Monolithic and Anne Lene Hägglund. All previous trax kan be listened to at the kalendar website.
new old video12.12.08 Sigurd has put out on YouTube an animated video he made back in 2004 for the song This Is Norway. It's almost nostalgik to diskover that KaRL BaRX hasn't always been stuck in yellow, black and red.
more karl barx photographs03.12.08 From now on we will try to publish even more photographs, both taken by others and by ourselves. They will all be kollekted in a gallery on a new page kalled KaRL BaRX - Images Of Imagination (aah, isn't that pretentious? We have to turn up our photographik ambitions...).The same gallery will also be inkluded on our MySpace page.
